New Real-Time Dispatch Contract Won in New ZealandBuilding on last year's successful delivery of our RT Vista module to Mighty River Power in Hamilton, New Zealand, Synexus Global has been awarded a second major Vista DSS order for delivery to a New Zealand utility. Following an extensive global pre-qualification and bidding process, New Zealand's largest hydro generation producer, Meridian Energy of Wellington, awarded a Generation Control System (GCS) Upgrade contract to AREVA T&D (Australia) Ltd. This state-of-the-art GCS system is comprised of AREVA's e-terrascada technology into which the Synexus Vista DSS advanced optimization functionalities will be incorporated. AREVA has contracted with Synexus for the supply of Vista-based capabilities, including the continuous cycling of planning processes over 7 days, 1 day, and 4 hours, as well as real-time economic dispatch advice on a continuous basis. This project will close the gap that has existed between the Short-Term (ST) Scheduling process and Real-Time (RT) Dispatch of hydro units. The contract will be executed from Canada, with factory testing in Australia, and then supplied to Meridian for installation in Twizel on the South Island of New Zealand. The full GCS project will take approximately 24 months to complete, and will also subsequently include up to 5 years of ongoing software maintenance services. Upon the project completion, Synexus' two Vista DSS software installations in New Zealand will be an integral component of the control for over 80% of that country's hydro-electric energy production capacity. |
