Organizational Changes!
Our development and implementation team has rejoined the mother company, Hatch Ltd., Renewable Power business unit. In the United States, we contract under Hatch Associates Consultants, Inc (HACI). Our team remains an integral unit, now referred to as the Power and Water Optimization (PWO) group.
We’ve come full circle since 1997 when we were seconded to a new spinoff company that was majority owned by Acres International (now part of Hatch Ltd). The independent company, initially APT, then later Synexus Global Inc., was an ideal vehicle for our rapid development phase. Our new closer integration within Hatch Renewable Power is facilitating the use of Vista DSS™ analytic modules (LT Vista and AUTO Vista) by Hatch analysts, provides us closer access to a large pool of technical talent for support (especially hydrotechnical and environmental), and strengthens our support and maintenance function.
- New Implementation of Vista DSS™
NextEra Energy Maine Hydro, LLC, has contracted Hatch Associates Consultants, Inc (HACI) to implement the Vista Decision Support System (Vista DSS™) to assist in the scheduling of hydroelectric facilities. The system, refered to as the Real-time Hydro Operation Model (RHOM), will be implemented at the Augusta Maine Control Center.
- Water Quality an Issue?
PWO is working together with Hatch Water to design a seamless interface between Vista DSS™ and water quality models for river reaches and reservoirs. We are also collaborating with DHI to take advantage of DHI best-of-breed hydrodynamic and water quality models in combination with Vista DSS optimization processes.
- Maintenance Planning
PWO has completed a study undertaken for Manitoba Hydro to assess applicability of both LT Vista and the AUTO Vista module for the purposes of analysing maintenance plans.
- Strategic Studies for Nalcor Energy
We have been undertaking a number of detailed strategic planning studies for Nalcor Energy, including development planning, and wind integration. Contact us if you need support in your studies.
- PGS Studies
PWO has been busy in the last year analysing and optimizing pump generation station (PGS) operations for several situations in the United States, Canada and Lesotho.
- HydroVision in Sacramento
Come to visit us at our exhibit at HydroVision 2011 in Sacramento, July 19-22, 2011, and attend our technical presentation, Evaluation of Pumped Storage Operations for Coordination with Wind Resources and for Supplying Ancillary Services (See abstract ).
There will also be separate technical paper presented by SaskPower that illustrates the use of AUTO Vista for conducting a planning study, A Feasibility Study on Modifying E.B. Campbell Hydroelectric Operations for the Benefit of Fish and Fish Habitat.
- PGS Optimization Workshop at HydroVision
Hatch Renewable Power, PWO, will be offering a workshop entitled “ PGS – Optimization of Operations Revenues” on the first day of the HydroVision conference; Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
