Acceptance Testing Underway for RT Vista at Mighty River Power

Mighty River Power (MRP) owns and operates nine hydroelectric plants (1000-MW) on the Waikato River in New Zealand. They contracted Synexus Global in August, 2006 to implement a real time Hydro Advisory Tool (HAT) to improve dispatch efficiency. See HAT project description sheet for details.

Two MRP staff members, Andrew Spackman and Stuart Glass, were in Niagara Falls in the last week of February and the first week of March to witness the FAT and test HAT in a simulated SCADA environment. Over 100 tests were conducted successfully, and logic was fine-tuned to suit MRP procedures.

The Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and the 2-wk Field Trial has been completed as well. Currently, an availability test and 7-wk Operational Trial test is underway.
