Vista will be applied to all hydro facilities of the Raquette, Hudson, Sacandaga, Beaver, Black, and Oswegatchie Rivers.

Following the successful implementation of the Vista Decision Support System in 2003, covering the Raquette River facilities (166 MW), Reliant Energy has contracted Synexus Global to implement two subsequent phases of the Vista system. The new deployment will cover facilities on the Sacandaga & Hudson Rivers (138 MW), and facilities on the Beaver, Black & Oswegatchie Rivers (116 MW). At the end of the 3-phase implementation, Vista will model 420 MW of hydro generation capacity.

With the upcoming opening of the energy market environment, the management team of Reliant Energy identified a need for a market-sensitive scheduling tool. Vista will schedule hydro production on an hourly basis over the next day/week to maximize revenue; and provide guidance related to reservoir operations to ensure maximum revenue over the long-term.

Reliant Energy operates 70 hydroelectric plants totaling 650 MW. The facilities are situated on 20 rivers and streams throughout upstate New York and include five major storage reservoirs.
