Chief Joseph Facility Upgrade StudiesThe Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) and the US Army Corps of Engineers is investigating the options for upgrading the 2600-MW Chief Joseph Hydroelectric Generating Station, using AUTO Vista. An AUTO Vista workstation has been established at BPA headquarters, and a special configuration comprising Grand Coulee and Chief Joseph defined for study purposes. This setup will be used by BPA and USACE staff to assess the merits of alternative runner replacement options. AUTO Vista has also been run for the entire Federal system (71 plants), for 3 hydrologic years (wet, average and dry) using an 8-hour timestep to define status quo operations. The resultant regulated flow sequence into Grand Coulee is used as the study inflow into the above-defined study configuration. The scope of work includes several training sessions on AUTO Vista as well as study support. |
